AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Promoting affordable housing and community development
Affordable Housing
At CCPPI, we believe every person deserves access to a safe, clean, reliable, and affordable place to live. The basic standard of housing is often unmet for communities of color, creating conditions hazardous to quality of life, well-being, and health, and slows progress for economic growth.
Our affordable housing areas of focus. We work to:
- Increase the number of individuals and families who own safe, affordable housing through our work implementing the Southeast Affordable Housing Plan with the Midtown Redevelopment Authority and affordable housing developers.
- Advocate for an equitable tax system that allows Black & Latinx homeowners to have long-term affordability and home ownership.
- Prevent residents in Houston & across the state of Texas from experiencing eviction by advocating at the local, state, and national levels for rental assistance and right to counsel, best practices in the eviction court system, and educating tenants about their rights, resources, and organizing power.
Take Action for Affordable Housing:
The National Low Income Housing Coalition hosts weekly calls for housing advocates, community members, stakeholders, local leaders, and more to learn more about how to advance long-term solutions to end the housing crisis and achieve housing justice.

The Houston Housing Collaborative (HHC) is a membership organization that advocates for Houston area residents by promoting the development of an equitable housing plan. HHC aims to be a driving force for an affordable housing production environment that supports maintaining home quality, the option of staying in place, expanding resources and opportunities for new affordable homes, preserving land access/use, and sustaining economic vitality for households and communities.

The Houston Eviction Solidarity Network (HESN) works to support tenants facing eviction by reducing the shame and stigma associated with evictions, conducting court watch to ensure judges treat those facing eviction fairly and humanizing a complex, systemic problem by uplifting tenant stories.
