Health Equity Collective/CCPPI Discussion
On November 2, 2021, CCPPI Interim Executive Director Sean Haley sat down to talk with Heidi McPherson, Co-Lead of the Health Equity Collective. The Health Equity Collective is a collaboration between over 140 Houston-area organizations coming together to address social determinants of health to improve health equity. CCPPI is deeply engaged in the efforts through involvement in multiple HEC workgroups and Sean Haley serving as Co-Chair of the Community Voice Workgroup. In the video, Heidi and Sean discuss how and why HEC was founded; what the social determinants of health are and the focus area(s) for HEC; the important goals of the Collective to impact broader systems; how the Collective is working to change the narrative around healthy equity in Houston; and the importance of shared power through community voice and community engagement.

The Children’s Museum Houston Outreach Programs’ missions are to provide opportunities for high-quality learning experiences in places where children spend their out of school time/before they begin school. Programs like Welcome Baby & BASICS Houston, which Ramona directs and implements, empower parents through learning tools to support brain development and early literacy during the first three years of life.
